Answer:

Ratio of present ages → 5:6

Let their present ages be 5x and 6x.

After fifteen years, their ages would be in the ratio (5x + 15):(6x + 15)

This is also equivalent to 8:9

= (5x + 15):(6x + 15) = 8:9

= 9(5x + 15) = 8(6x + 15)

= 45x + 135 = 48x + 120

= 3x = 15

= x = 5

Therefore, the present ages of Ram and Mohan are 25 and 30 years respectively.

Let the present of Ram = 5x

and Present age of Mohan = 6x

After 15 years,

(5x+15)/(6x+15) = 8/9

45x + 135 = 48x + 120

45x - 48x = 120 - 135

-3x = - 15

x = 15/3

x = 5yrs

Hence,

Age of Ram = 5x = 25yrs

Age of Mohan = 6x = 30 yrs
