Whenever there is application of pressure on a substance in its gaseous state, the particles of the gas come closer thus decreasing the inter molecular space and increasing its inter molecular force. However when there is application of pressure the substance also releases energy Inthe form of heat thus if we do not contact concurrently cool the gas it will remain in the gaseous state . E.g CO2 is kept under high pressure and low temperature to acquire dry ice , the solid form of Carbon Dioxide.
Hope this helped!
