The pressure of a gas is reduced by 25 %.

we have to find the temperature at which the volume of gas would be twice at NTP.

solution : at NTP (normal Temperature and pressure),

temperature , Ti = 20°C = 293K

pressure, Pi = 1 atm

a/c to question, pressure is reduced by 25%

so, pressure becomes, Pf = 0.75 atm

volume of gas becomes twice of its initial.

using equation, PV = nRT

⇒PiVi/PfVf = Ti/Tf

⇒(1atm × V)/(0.75 atm × 2V) = 293K/Tf

⇒1/1.5 = 293/Tf

⇒Tf = 1.5 × 293K = 439.5 K = 166.5°C

Therefore the temperature would be 166.5°C.
