Given :  price of sugar is increased by 20% Abhishek reduced his consumption by 1 kg so its overall expenditure  increase 10% only.

total expenditure is 660.

To find :  the increased rate per kg.

Solution:

total expenditure is 660. Rs

Consumption =   C  kg

price of sugar  = 660/C  Rs per kg

price of sugar is increased by 20%

=> New price = (660/C) (1  + 20/100)  =  792/C Rs per kg

Abhishek reduced his consumption by 1 kg

Consumption =   C-1  kg

overall expenditure  increase 10% only

New expenditure = 660 + (10/100)660 = 726

(792/C)(C - 1)  = 726

=> 792 - 792/C  = 726

=> 792/C  =  66

New price =   66 Rs per kg

increased rate per kg. =   66 Rs per kg

Additional info

old price = Rs 55 per kg , consumption = 12 kg expenditure = 660 Rs

increased price = Rs 66 per kg consumption = 11 kg  expenditure = 726 Rs
