Hey friend!

Solution :-

equation = ax² + bx + c = 0

It has equal roots .

So ,

D = 0

b² - 4ac = 0

b² = 4ac

=> b= 2 square root ac

Given :

  • px² + 3x + q = 0
  • roots x = -1 and x = -2

To find :

  • the value of q - p

Solution :

we know sum of roots = -b/a

product of roots = c/a

b = 3, a = p, c = q

=> -1 + (-2) = -3/p

=> -3 = -3/p

=> p/1 = 1

=> p = 1

product of root

=> (-1) (-2) = q/p

=> 2 = q/1

=> q = 2

=> q - p = 2 - 1 = 1

=> value of q - p = 1
