Value of r is \frac{q^2}{4p}.

Given:

px² + qx + r = 0 has equal roots

To Find:

Value of r

Solution:

Given the equation px² + qx + r = 0, has equal roots.

Then Discriminant should be 0.

Therefore,

D = 0

b²-4ac = 0

where,

b = -q

a = p

c = r

(-q)^{2} - 4 * p * r = 0

4 * p * r = q^{2}

r = \frac{q^2}{4p}

Therefore , value of r is \frac{q^2}{4p}.
