Given :- If Q3 + Q1 = 125 and M = 62.5, for a set of data, what can be said about its skewness ?

Answer :-

given that,

  • Q3 + Q1 = 125
  • Q2 = Median = 62.5 .

so,

→ skewness = (Q3 + Q1 - 2Q2)/(Q3 - Q1)

→ skewness = (125 - 2*62.5 / (Q3 - Q1)

→ skewness = (125 - 125)/(Q3 - Q1)

→ skewness = 0 / (Q3 - Q1)

→ skewness = 0 .

therefore, we can conclude that, the data is in symmetric distribution . Hence, its skewness will be zero .
