Given:

  • Rate = 6.25%
  • Time = 2 years 3 months =  2 \times \dfrac{3}{12}= 2 \times \dfrac{1}{4} = \dfrac{1}{2}  year
  • Interest = Rs. 312.75

To Find:

We have to find the principal.

Solution:

Using the formula,

\sf{SI=\dfrac{PRT}{100}}

Substitute the values,

\sf{Rs.\:312.75 = \dfrac{P \times 6.25 \times 1}{100 \times 2}}

Cancel 100 and 6.25,

\sf{Rs.\:312.75 = \dfrac{P}{16 \times 2}}

Multiply 16 and 2,

\sf{Rs.\:312.75 = \dfrac{P}{32}}

Take 32 to LHS,

⇒ 312.75 × 32 = P

Multiply the numbers,

⇒ Rs. 10,008 = P

∴ So, the principal is Rs. 10,008.
