Answer:

A planet has twice the density of the earth but the acceleration due to gravity on its surface is same as that on the surface of the earth. If r is radius of the earth, then that of the planet is

Answer:

h= R/4

Explanation:

Lets take mass of the body = m

Mass of the earth =M

The weight of the body = m g

mg=G\dfrac{Mm}{R^2}   ---------1

Lets take at distance h weight is 36 %.

So new wight = (1 - 0.36) m g

0.64mg=G\dfrac{Mm}{(R+h)^2}           ------------2

From equation 1 and 2

0.64G\dfrac{Mm}{R^2}=G\dfrac{Mm}{(R+h)^2}

0.64\dfrac{1}{R^2}=\dfrac{1}{(R+h)^2}

0.64 (R+h)² = R²

0.8 (R+h) = R

0.8 R + 0.8 h= R

0.8 h= 0.2 R

h= R/4
