If r(x,y) is a point on line segment joining the points p(a,b) and q(b,a) then prove that x+y=a+b

r(x,y) lies on line joining p(a,b) and q(b,a).

In case 1, x=a and y=b.

In case 2, x=b and y=a.

Therefore, x+y = a+b

or, x+y = b+a.

Hence Proved.
