Let Shashi's Income be ₹ 100 .
So , Rahul's Income = ₹ 140
So , Difference between Rahul's Income and Shashi's Income = ₹ 40
So , % Difference = (40*100)/140
=4000/140 %

Answer:

Shashi's income is less than Rahul's income by 28.57%.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given Rahul's income is 40% more than that of Shashi's.

Let the income of Shashi be ₹100.

Then the income of Rahul = 40% of Shashi's income + 100

= \dfrac{40}{100} \times 100 + 100

= 40+ 100=140

Therefore, Rahul's income = ₹ 140

The difference between Rahul's and Shashi's income =140-100 =  ₹ 40

Then the percentage difference is

= \dfrac{40}{140}\times 100

= \dfrac{400}{14}=28.57\%

Therefore, Shashi's income is less than Rahul's income by 28.57%.
