Concept:

A value or ratio that may be stated as a fraction of 100 is referred to as a percentage in mathematics. If we need to calculate a percentage of a number, we should divide it by its entirety and then multiply it by 100. The proportion therefore refers to a component per hundred. Per 100 is what the word percent means. It is symbolised by the "%"

Given:

if ratio of Salary of A to that of B is 1:3 and each spends15%ofhis salary on house rent find the house rent paid by A if remaining amount with A and B together is 42500

Find:

A's salary and B's salary

Solution:

A= ⅓B

B= 3A

Rent Paid = 0.15 A + 0.15 B

So remaining amount = 0.85A + 0.85 B

So 0.85A + (0.85B)x 3A

= 3.40A= Rs 42500

So A = Rs 42500/3.4

So A's Salary = Rs 12,500

B's salary=Rs 37500

Therefore,A's Salary = Rs 12,500 B's salary=Rs 37500
