RBC s are living cells. ... Mature human RBC lack nucleus . It doesn't mean that it is dead. Main function of RBC is transport of oxygen .

Answer: RBCs are produced in the red pulp of the bone marrow. In their precursor form, they contain a nucleus. As they mature in the marrow they become enucleated. But before enucleation, their nucleus directs the synthesis of protein, hemoglobin to be exact. The hemoglobin is required for RBCs to bind oxygen, which is one of their primary functions. Once the hemoglobin is produced the cell doesn’t need the nucleus anymore. I consider them to still be living, even without a nucleus. You can decide on your own.
