On the basis of monsoons in India, below are the major classification of cropping seasons:
- Kharif - cropping is during the south-west monsoon i.e rainy season from from July –October.
- Rabi - cropping is in winter season i.e. from October to March
- Summer crops are cultivated in the months of March, April, May and June.
Rice paddy requires more water for cultivation and it is a Kharif crop. November which falls under Rabi season is not the best time for rice cultivation. If the rice is sown in this time, there will be water scarcity due to which the cultivation of crop is highly impacted and it may become dry and may not grow well.

If rice is sown in the month of November the the rice plant would not grow properly and the seed of rice is small in size because rice plant is in kharif and need more water for growth.
