If Rick wishes to reduce his BMI to 27, he needs to eat fewer kcalories than he expends. For an adolescent who carries excess fat, the recommended maximal weight loss is one pound per week. Since there are 3500 kcalories in a pound of body fat, a deficit of 3500 kcalories for the week or 500 kcalories per day would be required.

Calculate the maximum number of kcalories Rick can consume per day to achieve a weight loss of one pound per week. Assume that his weight is 205 pounds and that his physical activity factor is "low active."

Now in this question a vital data is missing which is Rick's height.

Let's assume that is 5 feet 10 inches(avg height). His weight is 205. That concludes his BMI to be around 29( BMI= 703 X [(MASS in lbs)/(height in inches)²}

To reduce his BMI to 27 ...he needs to reduce his weight to around 190.(using the same formula)

That concludes 15 lbs.. if he reduces 1lbs per day ...it'll take 15 weeks.

Now the main part, a lowly active adult male consumes around 1500 kcal per day(assumed, not proved). Thus if Rick consumes (1500-500)= 1000 kcal per day his body will makeup the needed calories from the stored fat in his body and his weight will reduce.
