Step-by-step explanation:

√3tan theta =3 sin theta

√3 sin theta/costheta = 3 sin theta

√3 /3= sin theta* cos theta/sin theta

√3/3= costheta

rationalise L.H.S

1/√3 = cos theta

using Pythagoras theorem,

(hyp) ^2 = opp^2+ adj^2

(√3)^2 = opp^2+ 1^2

3-1 =opp ^2

opp= √2

now

sin theta= √2/√3

to find the value of sin^2 theta -cos^2 theta

(√2/√3) ^2- (1/√3)^2

2/3- 1/3

1/3
