let \: principal \: be \: x \:  \\  \\ SI =  \frac{p \times r \times t}{100}  \\  \\  =  > 36 =  \frac{x \times 3 \times 3}{100}  \\  \\  =  >  \frac{36 \times 100}{9}  = x \\  \\  =  > x = 4 \times 100 \\  \\  =  > x = 400 \\  \\ principal = Rs.400
