T = D/S
T = 3/x
If the speed is increased by 1km/hr
T=D/S
T=3/x+1
Acc. To ques.
T1 - T2 = 15 /60
3/x - 3/x+1 = 1/4
3(1/x-1/x+1) = 1/4
3(x+1-x/x(x+1)=1/4
3*4 = x2 + x
12 = x2 + x
x2 + x - 12 =0
x2 + 4x - 3x - 12 =0
x(x+4) - 3(x+4) =0
(x-3)(x+4) =0
x=3,-4
Since speed can never be negative
Hence x= 3
