Given,
secx-tanx=4.....(i)
We know that
sec²x-tan²x=1
(secx-tanx)(secx+tanx)=1
4(secx+tanx)=1
So secx+tanx=(1/4).....(ii)
Adding equation (i) and (ii),
We get
2secx=4+(1/4)
or 2secx=(17/4)
or secx=(17/8)
or cosx=(8/17)
