I have used Pythagorean triplets and the identity
( \tan( \alpha  ) )^{2}  =  (\sec( \alpha ) )^{2}   - 1

The shortest and easiest solution to this numerical, I am going to provide you here. Lets see step-by-step solution.

Here, i am holding "THETAS" as "x".

Given, sec x + tan x = 4.

We also know, sec²x - tan²x = 1

=> (sec x + tan x) (sec x - tan x) = 1

=> 4 (sec x - tan x) = 1

=> (sec x - tan x) = 1/4

=> sec x - tan x = 0.25 [OPTION(3)]

==================================

HENCE, THE REQUIRED ANSWER IS :

Sec x - tan x = 0.25
