Weight of 1 apple = 250 g
Weight of 6 apples = 250 * 6
= 1.5 kg

Initial weight = 14.5 - 1.5
= 13 kg
Number of apples in his carton initially :
= 13000/250
=52 apples

*The weight of the carton is not taken into consideration

Weight of 1 apple = 250g

Find the weight of 6 apples:

1 apple = 250g

6 apples = 250 x 6 = 1500g

Find the weight before the 6 apples are added:

14.5 kg = 14500g

14500 - 1500 = 13000g

Find the number of apples initially:

Number of apples = 13000 ÷ 250 = 52

Answer: There were 52 apples in the carton.
