as we know all side of square are in equal length ; let's say it : a

thus perimeter of original square would be

a +a+a+a =4a ( or four times of a )

now let's turn to your question . if its sides gets double; then all of its sides get double

then new length would be: a+a = 2a

then let's find out perimeter , i.e. sum of all 4 sides

2a +2a+2a+2a = 8a

new change in perimeter = new perimeter/ original perimeter

= 8a/4a

= 2

hence we conclude that if the side of square is doubled ,then it's perimeter would be doubled.
