For square
Area = (Side)²
A₂/A₁ = (S₂/S₁)²
A₂ = A₁ × [(2S₁/3) / (S₁)]² ……[∵ Final Side = S₁ - S₁/3 = 2S₁/3]
A₂ = 4A₁/9
Increase in area = A₂ - A₁ = 4A₁/9 -A₁ = -5A₁/9
∴ Area is increased by -5/9
