Question.

if sin ( A + B) = 1/2 and cos ( A - B) = -1/2

then find the value of a and b

EXPLANATION.

  • GIVEN

sin ( A + B) = 1/2

cos ( A - B) = -1/2

According to the question,

=> sin = 1/2 = 30°

=> cos = -1/2 = 120°

=> sin ( A + B) = sin 30°

=> cos ( A - B) = cos 120°

=> A + B = 30° ..... (1)

=> A - B = 120° ..... (2)

=> 2A = 150°

=> A =75°

put the value of A = 75° in equation (1)

=> 75° + B = 30°

=> B = -45°

Therefore,

value of A = 75° and B = -45°
