  \sin(x + y) =  \cos(x - y)  = 1

so if we write it separately, we get

 \cos(x - y)  = 1 \\  \sin(x + y)  = 1

cos gives value of 1 at 0 degrees whereas sin gives value 1 at 90 degrees.

thus

 \cos(x - y)  = 1 \\ x - y = 0 \\ x = y...(1) \\ and \\  \sin(x + y)  = 1 \\ x + y = 90 \\from \: (1) \\ x + x = 90 \\ x = 45 = y
