If sin theta = cos theta then find the value of 3tan²theta-1

so, sin theta = sin (90-theta) [since cos theta = sin90-theta]

so, theta = 90-theta

so, 2theta = 90

so, theta = 45

therefore, tan theta = 1

so, tan^2 theta = 1

and, sin theta =1/(2^1/2)

so, sin^2 theta = 1/2

Therefore, 3tan2 theta + 2 sin2 theta - 1 = 3(1) + 2(1/2) - 1

= 3 +1 -1

=3
