 \sin( \alpha )  = p \:  \:  \:  \:  \cos( \alpha )  = q \\  \\  \\ squaring \: both \: sides \:  in \: both \: the \: equations \:  \\  \\  \\  \\  \sin {}^{2} ( \alpha )  = p {}^{2}    \:  \:  \:  \:  \cos {}^{2} ( \alpha )  = q {}^{2}  \\  \\  \\  \\ now \: add \: both \: the \: Equations \:  \\  \\ p {}^{2}  + q {}^{2}  = 1
