And,after ten years mother will be twice as old as sita.

The present age of Sita and her mother.

Solution,

Let,the present age of Sita = x years

And,the present age of her mother = y years

[ Assume, x and y as variables to do the further mathematical calculations.]

Age of Sita,10 years ago = x-10

Age of Sita's mother,10 years ago = y-10

According to the question,

4×(x-10) = y-10

4x-40 = y-10

4x = y+30

x = (y+30)/4....(1)

And,

Age of Sita,10 years after = x+10 years

Age of her mother,10 years after = y+10 years

According,to the question,

(x+10)×2 = (y+10)

2x+20 = y+10

2x = y-10

x = (y-10)/2 ....(2)

By, comparing (1) and (2)we get that,

(y+30)/4 = (y-10)/2

2y+60 = 4y-40

4y-40 = 2y+60

2y = 100

y = 50

By, putting the value of y in (1),

x = (50+30)/4

x = 80/4

x = 20

Hence,the present age of Sita is 20 years and her mother is 50 years.
