We know,

l^{2} = {h^{2}+r^{2}  }

13^{2} = 12^{2} + r^{2}

r^{2} = 169-144 =  25

r = \sqrt{25}

r=5cm

\huge\underline\mathfrak\red{Given}

  • The slant height and height of a cone are 13cm and 12 cm.

\huge\underline\mathfrak\red{To \: find}

  • The radius of the cone.

\huge\underline\mathfrak\red{Solution}

We know that,

\sf{ {l}^{2}  = {r}^{2}+ {h}^{2}}

Now, putting the values, we get,

\sf{ {13}^{2}  =  {r}^{2}  +  {12}^{2} }

\sf{\implies  {r}^{2} =  {13}^{2}   -  {12}^{2} }

\sf{\implies r  =  \sqrt{169 - 144} }

\sf{\implies r =  \sqrt{25} }

\sf{\implies r = 5}

Hence, the radius of the cone = 5 cm.
