a) Sodium chloride reacts with silver nitrate to form sodium nitrate and silver chloride. Silver chloride is insoluble in water and settles down as precipitate.

b) Here, there is change in cations, or, the two metals displace each other from their salt solution in their aqeuos solution the reaction is Double Displacement Reaction. Also, due to precipitate formation, the reaction is also called Precipitation reaction.

c) The balanced chemical equation of the reaction is

\sf NaCl(aq) + AgNO_3(aq) \rightarrow NaNO_3(aq)+ AgCl(s)

Sodium nitrate and precipitate silver chloride are formed. This is a precipitation reaction as ppt is formed.

Reaction

NaCl+AgNO3=NaNO3+AgCl2(ppt)
