If solid sphere and solid cylinder of same mass and density rotate about their own axis then the moment of inertia will be greater for which one? Plz give reason ASAP

Moment of inertia of solid cylinder is more than the solid sphere.

Moment of inertia describes how easy a body can be rotated about its own axis. It is also defined as the product of mass and square of its distance from the axis of rotation.

Moment of inertia of solid sphere = \frac{2}{5}mr^{2}

                                                         =0.4mr^{2}

Moment of inertia of solid cylinder =\frac{1}{2} mr^{2}

                                                          =0.5  mr^{2}[/tex]

so, moment of inertia of solid cylinder is greater than moment of inertia of solid sphere.
