If sound waves are generated in air, what moves away from the source? Is it the air itself or the state of compression and rarefaction created in the air?

We can derive the following formula-

Speed of sound at temp. T = 332 + (0.6T)

So, 332 + (0.6 * 20) => 332 + 12 = 344 m/s.

So, speed of sound at 20 degrees is 344m/s.

Hope this will greatly help you.
