Given :

Stress on the body = Y

To Find :

The elongation of the body = ?

Solution :

  • Young’s modulus is the ratio of stress to strain produced in the body

        Youngs\:modulus = \frac{Stress}{Strain}

  • By substituting the values in the above equation, we get

        Y=\frac{Y}{strain}

        Strain =1

        \frac{\Delta l}{l}=1

        \Delta l = l

The strain produced in the body is equal to the original length of the body
