Marked price of the cycle = Rs1500
First discount of 8% is given
So the Price after discount =  Rs1500 - (8/100) × 1500 = Rs 1380

Second discount of 4% is given on Rs 1380,
So the price after discount = Rs 1380 - (4/100)×1380 = Rs 1324.8

Third discount of 2.5% is given on Rs 1324.8
So the price after discount = Rs 1324 .8 - (2.5/100) × 1324.8 = Rs 1291.68

So the selling price after discount = Rs 1291.68

Or

net = 1500 * (1-0.08) * (1-0.04) * (1-0.025)
net = 1500 * (0.92) * (0.96) * (0.975)
---
net = Rs 1291.68

Hello!

If successive discounts of 8%, 4% and 5/2% are allowed, what would be the net selling price of a bicycle, whose marked price is rupees 1500?

Solving:

At successive discounts, we must calculate the first discount on the initial value and on the result, and so on for other discounts.

8% * 1500 = 0.08 * 1500 = 120

1500 - 120 = 1380

4% * 1380 = 0.04 * 1380 = 55,20

1380 - 55,20 = 1324,80

If: 5/2% = 2.5%

2.5% * 1324,80 = 0.025 * 1324,80 = 33,12

1324,80 - 33,12 = 1291,68

Answer:

The final price of the bicycle with the successive discounts is Rs 1291,68
