If sugar can dissolve in water then what should we call to it is it is a solid or liquid? ​

Solute is the substance which is being dissolved while solvent is the substance which dissolves the solute. Hence sugar is the solute and water is solvent. If a solid is added to a liquid, and dissolves in the liquid, then the solid is said to be the solute
