If sulphur has valency 2 and oxygen too has valency 2 then how is S+O2=SO2 ?
Shouldn't 2 get cancelled? If no, then why?

Here, this case would not happen as-

First ofa ll, here electrons aren't bonded ionically, they are shared.

And, also, S has a variable valency.

in this case, the valency of School becomes 4, not 2.
