Concept

The polynomial equations of degree 2 are said to be quadraic equations.

For example

f(x) = 3x² + 2x + 1 = 0

GIven

1) Sum of zeros is 2

2) Product of zeros  -6

Find

Find thee polynomial

Solution

As we know that

Quadratic equation is given by

x² - (a+b)x +ab

where a and b are zeros of polynomial

We are given that

a+b = 2

ab = -6

Putting them in equation we get

x² - 2x -6

The polynomial equation whose sum and product of zeros of a quadratic polynomial are 2 and -6 respectively is x² - 2x - 6.
