If sum of the square of zeros of the quadratic polynomial f(x)=x2-8x+k is 40 find the value of K

Heya User,

--> f( x ) = x² - 8x + k ; f( α ) = 0 ; f( β ) = 0 ||

=> α + β = - ( - 8 ) / 1 = 8
=> ( α + β )² = 8²
=> ( α² + β² + 2αβ ) = 64
=> ( 40 + 2αβ ) = 64
=> 2αβ = 24 or  αβ = 12

However, αβ = k => k = 12      ^_^
