x^2 + y^2 = 40 (x,y>>zeros of equation)
(x+y)^2-2xy=40 ......................... eq 1
now
sum=x+y=-b/a=8
product=xy=c/a=k
put in eq1
64-40=2k
=> k=12

now
sum=x+y=-b/a=8
product=xy=c/a=k
put in eq1
64-40=2k
=> k=12
