Let the first number be x
Then the second number becomes= 41-x
A.T.Q
(x)(41-x)=400
-x²+41x-400=0
By Quadratic formula
D=b²-4ac
=1681-(4×-1×-400)
=1681-1600
=81
Now , x= -b +√D , -b - √D
2a 2a
x= -41+9 , -41-9
-2 -2
x= -32 , -50
-2 -2
x= 16 , x= 25
Hence the numbers are 16 and 25.
