Hello,
Let the two numbers be x and y,
So
According to the question
x+y=2490 (eq 1)
and
6.5% of x = 8.5% of y (eq 2)
So
(65/10)*100 of x = (85/10)*100 of y
on solving the above equation
13x = 17y
so x = 17y/13
putting the value of x in eq 1 we get
(17y/13)+y= 2490
17y + 13y = 32370
30y = 32370
So y=1079
Again putting the value of y in eq 1
x + 1079 = 2490
x = 2490 - 1079
So x = 1411
and y =1079
Hope this helps :)

Answer:

sum of two numbers=2490

x+y=2490

6.5x%+8.5x%=2490

15x/100=2490

15x=2490*100

x = 2490*100/15

= 166*100

= 16600

1st number= 6.5%x

= 6.5/100*16600

= 1079

2nd number=8.5%x.

= 8.5/100*16600

= 1411
