The one of the few reasons due to which the Earth doesn't fall into the Sun, is due to high speed movement in a Circular Motion (will be easier for you if you have already read Centrifugal Force).
The Circular Motion causes it to fall apart from it's path of revolution which will cause it to start moving in a Straight Path but as the Sun keeps attracting it towards inside of the Solar System in always stays in the path (almost).
