Force on moon =  G M m / D²
m = mass of moon          Me is mass of earth      D = distance between centers
Re = radius of earth        Rm  =  radius of moon

Acceleration (instantaneous) of moon just before striking earth :
     A   =  G Me / (Re + Rm)²  =  16 G Me / 25 R²e

     g = 9.8 m /sec² = G Me / R²e

   A = 16/25 * g = 6.272 m /sec²
