Answer:

We have following two methods to go through

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

Tan$ = 12/5 ………….(1)

Alternatively, Solution 1:

We know, Tan$ = Sin$/Cos$ ………(2)

From above statements (1) & (2), we get,

Sin$ = 12 & Cos$ = 5

Therefore, Sin$ - Cos$ = 12 - 5

We have following two methods to go through,

Given,

Tan$ = 12/5 ………….(1)

Alternatively, Solution 1:

We know, Tan$ = Sin$/Cos$ ………(2)

From above statements (1) & (2), we get,

Sin$ = 12 & Cos$ = 5

Therefore, Sin$ - Cos$ = 12 - 5 = 7

Solution 2 :-

Tan$ = 12/5 = p/b

p=12, b=5, h = ?

Using Pythagoras Theorem,

p^2 + b^2 = h^2

12^2 + 5^2= h^2

h=13

Then , Sin$ = p/h =12/13,

Cos$ = b/h = 5/13

Therefore, Sin$ - Cos$ = 12/13 - 5/13 =7/13

NB:Solution 1 & Solution 2 both are correct.

But,

Solution 2 is mostly considered accurate.

Hence, Sin$ - Cos$ = 7/13
