tanθ = a/b = P/B = BC/AC     ...image is given

∵ (AC)²+(BC)² = (AB)²

⇒ a²+b² = (AB)²

∴ AB = √(a²+b²)

Now as we know that

cosθ = B/H = AC/AB

and cosθ = 1/secθ

⇒ secθ = H/B = AB/AC

∴ secθ = √(a²+b²)/b
