tan A = perpendicular/base

draw a right angled triangle and find the hypotenuse using pythagoras theorem

(h)²=(5)²+(12)²

h²= 25+144

h = square root of 169 =13

As per question substitute the value of

sin A=perpendicular/hypotenuse

sin A = 5/13

cos A = base/hypotenuse

cos A = 12/13

add it to get answer.

5/13+12/13 =17/13
