Solution:

TanA + CotA = 2

squaring both sides,

(TanA + CotA) = 4

Tan^2A + Cot^2A + 2TanA × CotA = 4

Tan^2A + Cot^2A + 2 × 1 = 4

Tan^2A + Cot^2A + 2 = 4

Tan^2A + Cot^2A = 4 - 2 = 2
