Given :-

  • SI = Rs.40
  • Rate = 5% per annum .
  • Time = 1 year .

To Find :-

  • Principal = P = ?

Solution :-

we know that,

  • SI = (P * R * T)/100
  • P = Principal
  • R = Rate
  • T = Time .

so, putting given values we get,

→ 40 = (P * 5 * 1) / 100

→ 40 * 100 = 5P

→ 4000 = 5P

→ P = Rs.800 (Ans.)

Hence, the sum she has borrowed was Rs.800 .

Given:

If Tanvi gives an interest of Rs 40 for one year at 5% rate p.a.

To find:

what is the sum she has borrowed?

Solution:

Let the sum borrowed by Tanvi is P

Rate = 5%

Time is 1 year

Simple interest(I) = Rs 40

Finding the Principal:

I = PTR/100

=> 40 = Px1x5/100

=> 40 = 5P/100

=> 5P = 40x100

=> 5P = 4000

=> P = 4000/5

=> P = 800

Hence, the sum she has borrowed is Rs 800
