Answer:

tap a fill 2/5 of tank in 12 hrs so in 1hr it will fill 1/30 of tank

similarly tap b will fill 1/36;of tank in 1hr

then time taken to fill the tank is (30*36)/(30+36)

=16.6hr

Answer:

16 4/11 hours

Step-by-step explanation:

If A can fill the 2/5 tank in 12 hour

then A can fill the whole tank = 12*5/2 = 30 hour

If B can fill the 1/6 tank in 6 hour

then B can fill the whole tank = 6*6/1 = 36 hour

Take the LCM of Time taken by both

LCM of 30 & 36 = 180

180 is the total capacity of tank

then efficiency of A is = 180/30 = 6

then efficiency of B is = 180/36 = 5

if both fill the tank = Total capacity/total efficiency

Total capacity = 180

Total efficiency of A & B = 6 + 5 = 11

Total time = 180/11

= 16 4/11 hours
