if tectonic plates are moving continuously then why don't we feel the tremors all the time​

  • The lithosphere is made up of  plates that float and travel independently over the mantle. The seismic activities occur at the boundaries of these plates.
  • We do not feel the continents movement because they are moving at very slow rate. 2.5 cm per year. The maximum speed is of Indian ocean plate with 5-6 cm per year. This speed is similar to growth of your fingernails.  
  • That is why the movement of tectonic plates do not cause any tremors.
